Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is celebrated on the third Monday of January which falls on January 18th for 2010. The holiday celebrates the life of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a non-violent civil rights activist who was assassinated in 1968. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a National holiday and as such the post office and most banks are closed. Most schools also have the day off as do many (but not all) businesses.
