Groundhog Day

Groundhog Day is celebrated on February 2nd every year. Traditionally this is the day when groundhogs are observed to see if they see their shadow when they leave their burrow. If the groundhog does see it’s shadow, it signifies another six weeks of Winter. If the groundhog doesn’t see it’s shadow, Winter will end soon. The epicenter of all things Groundhog Day is Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, home to the famed groundhog Punxsutawney Phil where a massive Groundhog Day celebration has been taking place for nearly 130 years. Other competing groundhogs include Staten Island Chuck and General Beauregard Lee, and Wiarton Willie.
